Education Idea Generation Workshop, Dublin
17 May, 2011
IADT, Dublin
If our brains learn best with continuous feedback, what can we as innovators, educators and social entrepreneurs do to disrupt the jug-and-mug feedback loop of conventional education? How can we create tools that serve learners and educators alike? The best teachers may make it look easy, but it takes a lot of creative thinking to get it that way.
Inventorium’s Education Idea Generation workshop took some of the problems and challenges discussed at the Education Symposium in March, and applied them to a pens-and-paper, storyboard-generating workshop. It was the idea that education should be ‘hard fun’ that drove the event, generating ideas for games to target early years’ learners, games that provide assessment opportunities, and games for out-of-school learning.
Each team included product designers from NCAD, animator Mark Flood and transition-year students from a range of Dublin-area schools. The aim was to generate ideas and solutions to problems raised by the problem holders.
