Innovation in a Small Nation, Ty Menai

Over 80 entrepreneurs, academics and business people came together to explore and discuss innovation in North Wales
The aim of Innovation in a Small Nation was to bring people together to hear stories of innovative practices, visit some of the gems of innovation here in North Wales and discuss and debate innovation in Wales.
The day was split into three parts the first was presentations of innovation in practice in different sectors;
- John Thackara: Snapshot Presentation 1
- Guillaume Thierry: Science Presentation 2
- Bedwyr Williams: Art Presentation 3
- Gareth Browning: Support for Innovation Presentation 4
- Richard Cuthbertson: Business/Manufacturing Presentation 5
- Gareth Morlais: Media Presentation 6
- Eric Maddern: Tourism and Business Presentation 7
- Garrick Jones: Design Presentation 8
This was followed by visits to examples of innovation in the local area, locations included:
- Cae Mabon
- Surflines
- Hendre Hall
- Gaia Technologies
- Halen Mon
- Blizzard Protection
- Moelyci
- DMM
- Caban
Delegates were tasked of finding out the innovation stories on their visits, these were then told to the rest of the group at the end of the afternoon.
The day ended with a debate about innovation in Wales during which delegates gave their feedback to speaker arguments through an interactive voting system. Speakers for the debate were:
