Ministry of Defence Workshop

A workshop was held to bring together a small group of academics, SMEs, industry specialists and staff from the MOD and CPNI to explore to pre-identified problem areas from the MOD and possible areas on which to hold future workshops.
Meta Tagging Audio Visual Data
The morning workshop focussed on the problems with facial recognition from CCTV cameras – the group discussed the problem area and develop potential development areas for solutions. Future workshops will be held to further explore these areas and some research proposals will be put together.
Complex Data Visualisation
The afternoon focussed on the problems of retrieving useful information from subject focussed data such as text messages. Again a number of solution areas were identified to be explored further in future workshops as well as areas for research proposals.
